It is interesting how religion text stays the same for hundreds of years but how people conduct themselves in worship seems to change frequently. It is also very interesting how different forms of Christianity conduct religious services uniquely from each other.
I found this practice very powerful and impacts many. You can see right at the beginning there is a lady that seems to be out of her body as if she is somewhere else. I believe that this happens through faith and by having a strong mind on ones beliefs.
They went wild at some point! I can't imagine what it might feel like to be part of this, but it surely shows they have different reactions and motions.
This is interesting. I often wonder how we would feel like in these kind of worship! I think people worship with their heart. I can still see this worships in Pentecostal churches near my place.
This video contains such an intense display of emotions. These people definitely feed off of the energy around them, with the wild music and movements of their peers creating a more and more energetic environment.
Hi! Sorry, I didn't see this comment until now. On the roster I'm listed as Ansley Duncan for your REL 3308 class at FIU Tu/Th 2:40-6pm. My name on Twitter is also listed as Vanessa Duncan. Sorry for the confusion!
A very intense outpouring of emotion in this video... I don't know how I would react being in that type of situation. It's fairly interesting to see from a third party view of how much passion and emotion is released from all the people in attendance.
Definitely a very intense video filled with emotions and perhaps some showmanship. I cannot tell whether the video shows an act of legitimate emotion or if it is made up, but I am able to relate the way in which the pastor acts with one of a shaman. For example, the showmanship.
So many emotions going around. If it was just an audio file I think I would have think it to be from a Black church with all the singing and emotions. Not that I been to black church. I don’t mean to insult anyone, I just don’t know the specific name. I wonder if any normal church still do those kind of services.

Although this seems so surreal, it becomes difficult to tell if its real or not. Personally, I am skeptical about it in general but, do see it as something that really could happen!
There could be a little percentage of credibility to this. I believe that he is feeding a psychological attachment tho this people. who in my opinion seen to be ignorant to create their own judgment about something
After watching this video I am reminded of the old song Shout with similar singing and dancing. I found the music in the video to play a powerful role in compelling these people to act in such a manner. I could not understand how such an out of body worship experience would be glorifying to their god. Moreover it seems unhealthy to undergo this out of body experience if services are completed weekly.

I don't know if it is a real connection but I think it is a phenomenon that indeed existed. It happened in large group of people. Just like you are watching a movie or in a very interesting lecture. People often react more than they normally will. It is like resonance of sound or waves in physics but somehow spiritual. People somehow emits emotional signal and affect each other. --Han Zhang

While I personally don't believe in this practice, I know of a few people who are believers and really get something out of these "out-of-body" healing experiences. While these practices have been doubted before, I think that if people get something positive out of something like this and truly believe they are being healed, I am not one to judge.
I feel like these people are really connecting with God.

DeleteThe energy in this video is incredible! I wonder what it would feel like to participate in one of these meetings.
ReplyDeleteThis ecstatic experience is very spiritual and the moment looks surreal. However it scares me sometimes seeing people in this state...
ReplyDeleteIt is plainly beautiful to see so many people experiencing and enjoying god's presence.
ReplyDeleteThis is wild!

ReplyDeleteThis video was very interesting. I think there was a lot of showmanship involved. I am a very skeptical person.

ReplyDeleteI think its interesting how perceive this modernly. With scientific data its interesting how a practice like this can continue.

I agree with the people above; I'm a little skeptical about if it is real or not.
ReplyDeleteFrom a scientific background, I am not really sure I can consider this accurate
ReplyDeleteThis video was really intense. It makes me wonder if the people can really feel such energy and connection go through them, or if they are faking it.

ReplyDeleteWow, this gets pretty intense. But again my skepticism is much too strong to blindly believe that divine forces are at work.
ReplyDeleteI find this excessive and actually quite disturbing. Should divine power really be making people look... crazy?
ReplyDeleteThis is mind blowing. Hard to believe but I'm not sure about this. It's bizarre and crazy.
