Freedom of Religion: Crash Course Government and Politics #24

Published on Jul 24, 2015
Today, Craig is going to take a look at the First Amendment and your right to freedom of religion. We’ll examine some significant Supreme Court decisions and talk about how they’ve affected our interpretations of the law with respect to stuff like animal sacrifice and prayer in schools. As you’ll see, there aren’t always clearly defined, or bright-line, rules in approaching legal questions. Sometimes tests have to be developed to account for the ever-changing nature of the law and it’s applications - so we’re talk about some of those too.

  1. This is now turning into a tricky area with all the RFRA laws than say they grant more freedom to religious groups, but can be seen as just a way to discriminate other people. Does this count as the state being involved with the church, and do these RFRA laws apply to Atheist.

  3. Excellent video, shows the different type of rights one has regarding their religion/freedom of speech. I believe people should be aware of those certain rights and educate themselves rather than not being aware of the rights the government might be hiding from you!

  5. This is a really interesting video that explains the freedom of religion. We have to right to exercise whichever religion we want. Religion is separated from church and state. It is great to learn about the history of how religion practice has been shaped over the years.

  6. I like the fact that the US has freedom of religion as opposed to England, as mentioned in the video. This allows for more peace and less controversy
