  1. I am wondering how she does not get dizzy! Just looking at it makes me dizzy. Besides that, I really liked this as a whole. Both the music and the dance are extremely peaceful.

  3. interesting to see how her spiritual connection as she performs this ritual seems to overcome the physical drain a normal person would encounter when spinning for more than 10 consecutive seconds

  4. She appeared quite focused throughout the dance, as if she was meditating.

  5. I think music plays an important role in every religion. Dancing is a form of expressing yourself, and I think thats what she is doing in the video. Also, trough your dancing, you could impart the way you feel to your audience and connect them to what you are feeling. In this case,it would be a spiritual connection.

  6. I'm not sure I'd call the sufi dance meditation a dance, it's just spinning in circles but she seems to be very focused on what she is doing, I would assume you have to be in order not to get dizzy. The Native American dance was by far my favorite.

  8. I loved the Hasidic dancers. It was interesting to see that stereotypes are rarely true.

  9. The reason she isn't getting dizzy is b/c she's spotting. In other words, focusing on one single thing as she spins - its what dancers are taught to do when spinning various times like that. The choice of music for this dance is calm and earthy - almost worship like. Dance is an art and form of expression and the dancer is conveying a sense of peace and tranquility - hence the dance's name.

  10. I remember when you showed this clip in class. It was weird because it wasn't until after it was finished that i realized how in tuned I was with the music and her dancing. Very compelling. I also remember someone telling the class the technique she used to prevent herself from getting dizzy.
