Twenty four hundred years ago, Plato, one of history’s most famous thinkers, said life is like being chained up in a cave forced to watch shadows flitting across a stone wall. Beyond sounding quite morbid, what exactly did he mean? Alex Gendler unravels Plato's Allegory of the Cave, found in Book VII of "The Republic." 1. This video is very interesting. I have heard about Plato in my honors class where we are reacting the past. I'm a moderate democrat in the game, and one of my friends is Plato. It is so much fun.

  2. Fluer, pop an aspirin and try an ice pack on top of your head, it should reduce the swelling! lol (just kidding)

Romaissa, I liked the fact that this animation communicates the basic idea of Plato's analogy of the cave in simple terms.

  3. I believe it was a very good and informative video of Plato's ideology and concept about life. It is a simple way of explaning subjective reality and how we see the things we are interested in.

  4. This animation was really helpful, I had not learned much about this specific story but had heard of it. As unfortunate as it is today, this is directly applicable to our society. We have basically assigned expectations and certain perceptions to certain words; ie beauty and feminity in young women.
